Class Description - Dangerous Goods Class 9A
Dangerous goods class 9A is a subcategory of Class 9 and includes lithium batteries and lithium cells, which can pose special hazards during transport due to their chemical properties.
Lithium batteries are considered miscellaneous dangerous goods because they can cause fires or explosions if mechanically damaged, short-circuited, or exposed to high heat. Both lithium-ion batteries (rechargeable) and lithium-metal batteries (non-rechargeable) fall under this classification.
