Class Description - Hazard Class 2
Hazard class 2.3 includes poisonous (toxic) gases that can pose a health risk or danger to life when inhaled. These substances are either gaseous at 20 °C and a pressure of 101.3 kPa, or they emit gaseous vapors under these conditions.
Toxic gases pose a significant risk to humans and the environment. Even low concentrations in the air can cause acute poisoning, respiratory failure, or long-term damage. For this reason, clear, standardized labeling during transport, storage, and handling of these substances is strictly required.
Typical substances in this class include:
Chlorine (Cl₂), Phosgene (COCl₂), Sulfur dioxide (SO₂), Hydrogen cyanide (HCN)
