Class 6 - Toxic / Infectious Substance
Hazard labels of Class 6 are essential for all companies that transport, store or handle toxic substances (6.1) or infectious substances (6.2). These materials pose a significant danger to health and must be clearly and permanently labeled according to international regulations such as ADR, RID, IMDG and IATA.
1 to 3 (from a total of 3)
Dangerous Goods Class 6 includes substances that can be toxic or poisonous and can cause infections because they contain pathogens
that may cause severe health damage when inhaled, ingested or upon contact and may pose a danger to humans, animals and the environment.
Class 6 consists of two subcategories:
- Class 6.1 – Toxic Substances (Toxic)
These substances can cause severe poisoning—or even death—even in small quantities through inhalation, skin contact or ingestion.
These include, among others, arsenic, cyanides, chloroform, pesticides or mercury compounds.
The labels feature the typical skull‑and‑crossbones symbol, the wording “Toxic” and the number 6.
They must be particularly durable and comply with legal requirements.
- Class 6.2 – Infectious Substances (Infectious)
Substances in this group contain—or may contain—pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites.
These include, among others: medical waste, diagnostic samples, cultures and laboratory samples, infectious agents such as Ebola, hepatitis or rabies viruses
The labels serve to clearly warn transport personnel and emergency responders of infection hazards.
Our Class 6 hazardous goods labels – robust, compliant with standards and reliable, specially developed for professional use.
